1. Who we are
Lingo.ai ("Lingo", "we", "us") is an AI speech therapy companion that helps individuals practise and rebuild confidence in their speech. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have.
2. Information we collect
- Account information - your name, email address, and preferences you set in the app (accent, speech rate, reminders).
- Speech data - audio from your microphone during practice and conversation sessions, and the text transcripts generated so Lingo can give you feedback and track progress.
- Usage and progress - session history, scores, streaks, and practice activity so we can personalise your plan and show your improvement over time.
- Memories - short notes Lingo remembers from conversations (such as topics you mention) to make future conversations feel more personal. You can review and clear these at any time in your profile.
- Device and technical data - basic device and browser information needed to run the service securely.
3. How we use your information
- To provide speech recognition, feedback, and personalised practice plans.
- To track your progress and show you streaks, scores, and history.
- To operate subscriptions and billing through Base44 Payments.
- To send optional progress emails and reminders you have turned on.
- To improve and maintain the safety, quality, and reliability of Lingo.
4. Speech data - sensitive, private, and yours
Your voice is personal. Audio captured during a session is processed to generate transcripts and feedback. We do not sell your speech data, and we do not use it to train models that identify you personally. You can delete your session history and memories at any time from your profile, which removes them from your account.
5. Sharing your information
We share data only with service providers that help run Lingo - for example payment processing (Base44 Payments), cloud hosting, and speech recognition - and only as needed to deliver the service. These providers are bound to protect your data and to use it only for the purpose we share it. We may share information where required by law or to protect the safety of our users.
If you connect a supporter (such as a family member or carer), you choose what they can see, and you can revoke that access at any time.
6. How long we keep your data
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we remove your session history, memories, and personal settings from our systems. Some records may be kept in anonymised, aggregated form or where we are required to retain them by law.
7. Your rights
- Access, review, and export your session and progress data.
- Correct your account information.
- Delete your account and the personal data linked to it.
- Withdraw consent for memories and optional communications at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, sign in and use the account tools in your profile, or contact us at the address below.
8. Children and vulnerable users
Lingo is designed to be a gentle, supportive companion and may be used with the help of a parent, guardian, or supporter. We do not knowingly collect data from children without the involvement of a responsible adult. If you believe a child is using Lingo without appropriate consent, please contact us.
9. International transfers
Your data may be processed by our service providers outside your country. Where this happens, we take steps to ensure it is protected to a standard consistent with this policy and applicable law.
10. Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including access controls and encryption in transit. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep yours safe.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be highlighted in the app where practical.
